When wound it lies flat so is ideal for making bodies of nymphs and tying in thorax materials without having to change bobbins. However it needs to be used carefully, as it is not as strong as ordinary tying thread.

Flyman's tips: To bulk up the thread for a buzzer body spin the bobbin holder to twist the thread into a rounded profile; finish off with a top wrapping of flat thread for smoothness; spinning the thread also increases its strength but this product does not have the tensile strength of usual thread.
